Tynan returns!

Tynan returns!

Andrew Schooler14 Jan - 09:58

Former boss Sean Tynan has returned to the Royal Oak to work alongside Matt Carmichael as joint manager of the first team.

Harwich and Parkeston Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Sean Tynan to its management structure.
Sean (pictured) will become joint manager of the first team, working alongside Matt Carmichael – the man who took the reins when he left in the summer of 2024.
Explaining the move, Matt said: “I’d like to welcome back Sean Tynan as joint manager. After some positive discussions and meetings, I’m delighted to say Sean has agreed to come back to work alongside me.
“Managing a football team is pretty much a second job. With my family and work commitments, it felt the right time to make this move - I always give 100% but the last few months have been tough.
“With an ever-growing business and my time becoming more stretched, this is a massive positive for HPFC. The club will benefit from another manager who has the same passion for the club.
“The management structure will remain in place. Sharpy (Mark Sharp) continues as head coach, Glenn (Eldridge) and John (Watkins) will continue in their coaching roles and Gareth (Heath) remains as our player/assistant.”
Sean and Matt previously worked together as joint managers at the Royal Oak during the second half of the 2023/24 season.
At the end of that campaign, Matt took over single handedly after Sean left citing “personal reasons” and a need to “recharge the batteries” after almost three years in the role. Before leaving, he was made a life member of the club.
Sean had previously led the Shrimpers to the final of the Eastern Counties League play-offs in 2022/23. On that occasion, Downham won 4-0 but last season a return to those play-offs under Matt saw the club promoted to the Essex Senior League thanks to a penalty shoot-out victory over Stanway Pegasus.
This will be Sean’s first experience of managing at Step 5.
His previous spell in charge saw him win 59 of 119 games, a win rate of 49.6%.
