HARWICH DO WELL TO BEAT STRENGTHENED FRENFORD

HARWICH DO WELL TO BEAT STRENGTHENED FRENFORD

Terry Francis27 Sep - 20:34

THE ESL STRUGGLERS HAVE JUST SIGNED 4 PLAYERS WITH STEP 3 AND 4 EXPERIENCE AND WERE FAR BETTER THAN THEIR LEAGUE POSITION SUGGESTED

REPORT BY COLIN ROGERS

Frenford started on the front foot and in the 6th minute, from a good position, went close with a header that went just wide of the post.
Harwich came into the game and took the lead in the 16th minute from an excellent in-swinging Alfie Canning corner kick that was headed home from close range by Charlie Canham (pictured).
Frenford created two good chances - a shot that went just wide and, shortly afterwards, another that struck the post.
The Shrimpers weathered the storm and went close themselves with a dangerous cross from Zachary Pedro that found Shaun Avis, who headed just wide.
Harwich came more into the game in a second half that was even and end to end.

150th anniversary: Goals film to be shown this coming Saturday!

For the Shrimpers, Louie Bloom headed just over form Luke Mayhew's cross and they also went close when Avis shot inches past the post.
On their 4G all-weather pitch, Frenford threatened with a shot again hitting the post.
Harwich goalkeeper Brad Cook was also called upon to show safe hands, twice getting down well to save.
In the closing ten minutes Frenford pressed hard for an equaliser but Cook and the Harwich defence impressed, holding out well to keep a clean sheet.
On this showing, Frenford will move up the table, so it was no simple task for Harwich and they had shown a lot of character to take home all three points.
Harwich team: Brad Cook, Tom Watkins, Jack Wood, Charlie Canham, Tiwa Odufuye, Tyler Sullivan, Luke Mayhew, Alfie Canning, Zachary Pedro, Louie Bloom and Shaun Avis. Substitutes: Theo Clayson, Teddy Johnson, James Letts and Liam White (all used).
