Harwich went behind early on when their goalkeeper Oscar Finbow did well to push out a goalbound shot but could not prevent a jubilant Witham from scoring with the follow-up.
The Shrimpers equalised with a well-taken goal from Dylan Crowley but Witham, who had been defeated in their previous outings, were playing with great determination and regained the lead which they held at half time.
The Witham goalkeeper was in great form, making three top-class saves during the first 45 minutes and he continued to shine after the break.
Harwich were getting their game together and making more goalscoring opportunities but could not apply the finishing touch.
They were rewarded for their pressure when substitute Logan Humphries supplied an excellent cross from which Crowley (pictured with manager Luke Harrison) made a smart finish to score his and the Shrimpers' second equaliser.
Play was end to end now with both teams seeking a winning goal and both goalkeepers made good saves to keep the scores level.
Harwich came close to snatching victory when Will Crook's accurate through ball put Crowley in but his shot went inches outside the post.
