Brightlingsea took the lead with a goal in the first minute of the match and in the opening stages, with swift attacks down the flanks, threatened the Harwich defence.
However, the Shrimpers equalised in the 10th minute when they won a free kick on the edge of the Regent penalty area which Jack Milne (pictured) converted with a precision shot, over the defensive wall and into the roof of the net.
The remainder of the the half was evenly contested, with Regent dangerous from a number of corner kicks and the Shrimpers creating chances from well-constructed breakaway attacks.
Harwich took the lead in the 65th minute when Dylan Crowley played a neat pass to Milne and the Shrimpers ace netted his second goal with a clinical finish.
The Harwich central defenders deserved special credit for keeping Brightlingsea at bay throughout a match in which the result was always in doubt, and the whole Shrimpers squad are to be commended for an excellent performance against a good Regent outfit, currently in second place in the league table.
The match was watched by an appreciative attendance of 104.
