Ipswich were on top during the first half but found Harwich goalkeeper Jack Lines in excellent form. He twice pulled off first-class saves to prevent his team going behind, firstly with his feet at the near post and also making a great diving save.
Wanderers also had an effort strike the post but almost on the stroke of half time it was Harwich who took the lead. Jeremiah Ajisafe (pictured) had been a power for Harwich, both in defence and in going forward and when the Shrimpers pressed, he scored a vital goal from close range.
The second half was end to end with Harwich now passing the ball accurately to threaten the Wanderers goal.
Ipswich were still dangerous with smart breaks, keeping Lines on his toes. When he managed to make a partial stop, with the ball still heading towards the net, it was a heart-in-mouth moment for the Shrimpers but good defensive covering saved the day.
Harwich striker Dylan Crowley had worked hard and when he was brought down, Josh Beavis clinically converted the resultant penalty kick into the corner of the net to give the Shrimpers a two-goal cushion.
Wanderers remain in 3rd place in the league table but have now completed their fixtures. Harwich's final game is on Tuesday evening when they entertain Long Melford at the Gwinnell & Sons Royal Oak, kick off 7.45pm. If the Shrimpers can manage a victory, they would overtake Wanderers (and Stanway Pegasus) and finish third themselves.
