Fire United started the game with 10 players on the field for the first six minutes. In the 8th minute Harwich went ahead when Sean Bartlett scored with a well taken shot. The hosts were reduced to 10 men when a player was red carded in the 22nd minute. The play was scrappy with Harwich unable to take advantage of the extra man and the first half finished with the score 1-0 in the Shrimpers favour.
Five minutes into the second half Hayden Dutch pounced on a dropped ball by the Fire United goalkeeper to tap home the second goal for Harwich. The Shrimpers had a good opportunity to go three up when they were awarded a penalty three minutes later but a poor spot kick enabled the Fire United keeper to make an easy save. With Harwich not playing a good passing game, Fire United scored in the 78th minute. In the 82nd minute a player frome each side received a red card for an off the ball incident. In the 87th minute Fire hit the woodwork. This was an under par performance from Harwich making this win harder than it should have been.
