Both teams had chances in the first half. Goalkeeper Sam Felgate pulled off a couple of smart saves to keep the Harwich goal in tact whilst Shrimpers Sean Barltlett was making some chances for his team. Harwich took the lead just before the interval when Jake Plane's corner was powerfully headed home at the far post by Dan Clark.
Harwich were awarded a penalty in the 60th minutes following a hand ball but goakeeper Nevin Noriev dived to the foot of the post to save Bartlett's spot kick. However almost immediately Barltett made amends when Noriev pushed out Jake Kioussis cross and he headed the Shrimpers second goal. The pitch was very heavy but Harwich were making light of the conditions now and when they won a another penalty, this time for a foul, Bartlett made no mistake with Noriev diving the wrong way. With Ryan McGibbon forming a strong partnership with Clark Harwich were snuffing out Hackney Wicks attacks. Harwich new signing striking Adam Hampson was settling in whilst faced with a giant Hackney Wick central defender. The visitors best effort came from a free kick with Ayub Kadiri's excellent drive striking the post. Subsitiute Ross Purll broke through but his effort was blocked by the on coming Noriev. Another Shrimpers sub Suliema Bakaladwa also came on the entertain the crowd with his lightning turn of speed and Harwich were good value for their victory.
