Harwich were caught cold in the first few minutes of the game when Coggeshall's powerfull striker Kuris Oti broke through the square Shrimpers defence and held off a challenge from Dan Clark before clinically planting the ball past the outcoming keeper Sam Felgate snugly into the net. United had the edge during the first half and their one goal lead was a fair reflection of play. Harwich were again slow of out the blocks and within a couple of minutes of the second half Alex Owuadey made them pay by increasing Coggeshall's lead. Untited are a very strong team, both physically and in skill, so Harwich now faced a daunting task. However the Shrimpers showed great spirit and took the game to their opponents with the pace of the game going up several gears. Oti had a great chance to make it 3-0 for United but put his shot wide. Substitute Harry Banner brought a fine diving save from the visiting keeper whilst Clark saved the Shrimpers with a last ditch intervention. Coggeshall were forced on the defensive and in their efforts had a player sin binned for 10 minutes. In the 70th minute Harwich were rewarded for their sterling efforts when Sean Bartlett volleyed the ball home from a cross to reduce the arrears. Harwich were buzzing around the visitors goal and with almost 10 minutes of inury time to be played, won a penalty for handball which Sean Bartlett calmly converted. Both teams tried for a winner but when the whistle finally came, a draw was a fair result.
Definitely a point gained for Harwich with their tremendous comeback which was applauded by their supporters.
