Harwich started well forcing Brightlingsea keeper Michael Betts to make a fine save and then Jordan Heath was inches off target with a snap shot. Regent came back strongly and Shrimpers keeper Sam Felgate had to come out smartly to intercept. Sam Cripps combined neatly with Ross Purll but the latter's flick was saved. The young Regent team were very quick to break and Harwich experienced defender Michael Murray made two excellent block tackles to prevent them scoring. For Harwich Sean Bartlett's accurate diagonal cross was headed over the bar by Cripps. Brightlingsea attackers were outpacing the Harwich rearguard and Felgate again had to rush out of goal to thwart them. Murray again came to the rescue, clearing a dangerous cross with Regent keeping Harwich at full stretch. A minute before half time Regent were within an ace of scoring when Quinton Daley's free kick struck the post. Six minutes after the break a decisive moment came when Dan Clarke crossed and Jordan Heath powerfully headed Harwich into the lead to the delight of his colleagues and their supporters. Felgate was in good form and was kept busy saving another Daley free kick and pulling off a super save when Ashley Sauka broke through. Substitute Elliott Fay and Heath combined well to force a corner and put some pressure back on Regent. There was time for Felgate to make another terrific stop and then Harwich saw out time to claim three points at the expense of a very promising young Regent second string.
