A good crowd welcomed the teams on a wet and windy day. Harwich were without injured skipper Jordan Heath and Nicky Palmer too the captain's armband. The game was enthralling from the start with the Harwich defence in fine form as Lopez Tavares tried to stamp their authority. The Shrimpers also looked dangerous in attack and took the lead with a good move when Kevin Coyle crossed and Sean Barltett snapped up the chance to net. Lopes Tavares continued to test the home defence who twice showed excellent covering to clear off the line. Against such strong opposition it was a good first half for Harwich and they went in a half time with their one goal advantage still in tact. Lopez Tavares were back on terms in the 65th minute when Richard Kone broke through to score despite Harwich strong appeals for hand ball. The excitment continued as the visitors moved the ball around neatly and sought all 3 points. Harwich also had ambitions to snatch victory with Coyle crossing and Rory Harman unfortunately off balance when shooting. In the closing minutes Harwich had to face a final onslaught but their defence had been excellent today and their all round performance deserved a point.
