Harwich made a good start with a goal in the 12th minute when Kevin Coyle sent in a teasing corner that sailed in under the crossbar and over the goaline. The Shrimpers increased their lead in the 20th minute with a neat build up down the left flank culminating in a good finish by Coyle for his second goal. Harwich continuted to be on top in the first half and should have made more of their chances to improve on their 2-0 lead. In the 50th minute Daniel Lopez broke through the Harwich defence and reduced the arears with a very good shot into the far corner of the net. This inspired Fire and they did not look a bottom team now and with some good passing moves took the game to Harwich. The Shrimpers were finding it difficult to stop the talented Lopez on his runs down the left flank and again he ran through the home defence before shooting Fire's 60th minute equaliser - defenitely the Man of the Match. Harwich were trying hard to regain the initiative but when they did make decent chances their shooting was off target, both Coyle and Jordan Heath missing openings. At the other end keeper Sam Felgate saved well from Lopez and a revitalised Fire looked more likely to snatch victory.
