Luke Mayhew hits hat-trick as 1st XI return to winning ways with 5-1 victory

Harwich and Parkeston came good after struggling to find their form in the opening 45 minutes in which they were thwarted by a Borough team looking to cause an upset.
The first 15 minutes were uneventful with moves breaking down. Harwich were just outside the play off places whereas Borough needed points to keep clear of the bottom but at this stage their was little to choose between the teams. As the half progressed there was some improvement with Borough having a shot strike the post and the Shrimpers starting to string some passes together. Harwich most likely attack came just before half time when Jamie Beecham weaved through the home defence to be finally blocked within a couple of yards of the goal. A lack lustre half came to an end with neither goal keeper really troubled.
Harwich boss Sean Tynan had stern words to say to his team at the break. There was an immediate response with Alfie Canning the provider for Jamie Beecham's clinical shot to put the Shrimpers into the lead. Only seconds had gone before Borough equalised when Connal Mcerlain converted a cross.
The game had come to life and a 3rd goal all scored within 10 minutes of the start of the 2nd half saw Harwich regain the lead when Luke Mayhew slotted home from Jamie Beecham's pass.
Borough came close with a shot that was diverted at the expense of a corner but Harwich were buzzing now and Brandon Rusby created an opening for Luke Mayhew to notch his second goal.
Luke Mayhew had been given a free role by the Shrimpers Manager to express his talent in this half and he set up the chance from which the impressive Jamie Beecham increased Harwich lead to 4-1.
In the closing stages substitute Joe Knight did well in the build up which saw leading scorer Luke Mayhew complete his excellent hat trick of goals.
Harwich team: Brad Cook, Harry Tuck, Mitchell Knight, Tyler Sullivan, Reece Harte, Brandon Rusby, Gareth Heath, Luke Mayhew, Jamie Beecham, Alfie Canning and Jamie Eades. Substitutes: Joe Knight, Charlie Stoneley, Alfie Smith and Dan Keeble.
