AFTER A BREAK OF A FEW YEARS IT WAS A JOY FOR THE SHRIMPERS TO REVISIST GREAT YARMOUTH TOWN WITH BOTH OLD CLUBS BEING A PART OF FOOBALLS MAGICAL HISTORY AT GRASS ROOTS

This season is Great Yarmouth Town's 125th anniversary and there was a good band of travelling Harwich supporters to take their place in Town's wonderful old grandstand for the kick off.
Harwich Manager Sean Tynan rewarded his teenage wing backs Harry Tuck and Archie Corner who retained their place in the starting line-up.
The opening stages of the match were evenly contested. When Yarmouth (the Bloaters), did penetrate the Shrimpers defence, goalkeeper Brad Cook came way out of his goal to make a brave clearance. Harwich came close when Joe Knight's cross struck the angle of the crossbar. With Harwich beginning to get into their stride, following a dangerous cross, Like Mayhew just couldn't get enough power into his downward header. Then in the 35th minute the Bloaters keeper Reuben Lane brought down Joe Knight and Jamie Eades tucked away the resultant penalty kick to give Harwich the lead. With half time approaching Yarmouth came close with a header from the cross. However, it was Harwich who got the important second goal with an excellent move started by Archie Corner, with Joie Knight's long cross perfect for the oncoming Matt Geen to convert at the far post.
Harwich brought on regulars Shaun Kioussis and Alfie Smith to retain their lead in the second half. Both team's defences performed well but it was Harwich who looked more dangerous in attack. Shrimpers skipper Gareth Heath was prominent and had a clever chip shot well cleared by a header and later Luke Mayhew's shot brought a great tip over the bar save from Reuben Lane. Although not on the scoresheet, striker Joe Knight enjoyed a good game and was blocked with a last-ditch tackle at the expense of a corner. Yarmouth kept battling until the end but it was a well-deserved 3 points for Harwich at the final whistle.
Harwich team: Brad Cook, Harry Tuck, Ben Hammond, Jack Wood, Archie Corner, Brandon Rusby, Gareth Heath, Luke Mayhew, Jamie Eades, Joe Knight, and Matt Geen. Substitutes: Shaun Kioussis, Alfie Smith, Rob Pratt.
Our thanks and best wishes to Great Yarmouth Town for their excellent hospitality in making us all welcome from the moment that we arrived, and we look forward to reciprocating when they visit us in February.
