Harwich were the first to attack but Huntingdon came back strongly with the Shrimpers indebted to goalkeeper Brad Cook for keeping them out. He made a great block when one- on-one with a Town attacker and later again saved a goal bound effort. Huntingdon were enjoying a dominant period and they came close when Julino Gomes hit a close range rasping angled shot against the outside of the post. Harwich were having to battle to stay with a sharp Huntingdon outfit but before half time took the lead when they made a good move down their left-hand flank, from the visitor's defence attempted clearance from the cross Brandon Rusby, planted his 25-yard shot neatly into the net.
The second half continued to be contested at a cracking pace and Huntingdon scored a deserved equaliser in the 65th minute when the dangerous Gomes crossed for Kelton Stringer to beat Cook with a powerful header. Joe Knight was working hard in the Harwich attack, and he sent over a tantalising cross which Jamie Beecham was within inches of converting. In defence the Harwich back four together with Cook were outstanding in preventing Huntingdon from taking the lead and it looked as though the Shrimpers would do well to come out of the game with a point. With 15 minutes remaining Gareth Heath won an important header, clearing the ball to wing back Alfie Smith who pinged a long pass over the Huntingdon defence. Town goalkeeper Connor Barton advanced in an effort to snuff out the danger but the alert Joe Knight won the race and neatly headed the ball over the keeper into the vacant net to the jubilation of his teammates and supporters. Harwich contested every
situation now as Huntingdon piled on the pressure and did well to take all 3 points from strong opposition.
