With Ben Hammond still on the injured list, it was a blow for Harwich also to be without another centre back Nathan Kioussis, so the Shrimpers management team called stalwart Matt Stace to help out.
Harwich created a great opportunity after only a couple of minutes when Matt Geen's run and cross fell to feet of the oncoming Gareth Heath whose first-time volley whizzed just outside the far post. With 20 minutes gone Holland took the lead when following a corner kick Shrimpers goalkeeper Brad Cook was blocked out, unable to reach the cross and Martin took advantage to give the visitors the lead.
A minute into the second half Harwich created another golden chance but this time it was former Harwich Youth keeper Josh Fowler who thwarted them with a last second save on the goal line. Play was end to end and when they pushed forward twice leaving themselves open, Harwich were indebted to Cook for his excellent anticipation in advancing to save with his feet. With 15 minutes plus stoppage time remaining a sending off reduced Holland to 10 men and Harwich piled on the pressure. In the closing stages it seemed that Harwich must score and rescue a point, but Holland defended resolutely, with goal line clearances together with brave saves from the excellent Fowler. The three points for Holland take them into the play off positions in the league table, whereas missed chances so far this season have cost Harwich a similar spot.
