Following on from defeats at the hands of West Bergholt and Lawford Lads, Harwich could not afford to slip up at home to Holland F.C.

Knowing that defeat could be a knock out blow to their Championship hopes, Harwich gave a gutsy performance to defeat a tough Holland outfit. The Shrimpers were forced to make further changes through injuries and unavailability but were happy to welcome back twin Ryan Heath after a long absence. Harwich created some good chances during the first half but it was not until the 40th minute that Joss Neale latched onto Tom Brannen’s through pass to score a well taken opening goal.
With a determined Holland fielding some experienced players, Harwich need a second goal to keep them at bay. It came in the 60th minute when Ryan Heath exchanged passes with Robbie Marks and then picked his spot to shoot into the far corner of the net. Having put in a sterling effort on a rain soaked pitch, Harwich tired in the closing stages. In the 85th minute the referee awarded a penalty when he considered that a Harwich defender’s foot was high in clearing. Cameron Gove’s spot kick hit the crossbar and Holland’s chance of putting pressure on Harwich in the final minutes was gone.
