In front of another good crowd, estimated at about 200, Harwich lead at the top of the table was cut to two points. Harwich now face a testing run in of 8 games, including fourth placed Newbury Forest twice, who have games in hand to make them certain challengers, and a visit to West Bergholt. The Shrimpers badly missed injured striker Jordan Heath, who has been a potent threat throughout the season, and player manager Robbie May and will be hoping that they make a speedy return. West Bergholt took the lead in the 11th minute when Steve Spiers was quick to react to a mix up in the Shrimpers defence. A telling moment for Harwich came in the 23rd minute when Robbie Marks effort struck the West Bergholt post. Perhaps a goal at that moment might have provided the lift which the jaded Shrimpers needed for from then on they were second best to a very good West Bergholt team. The killer goal came in the 57th minute when West Bergholt executed a neat short corner for Ryan Garvey to score their second goal.
It was not until the closing stages that Harwich were able to mount any significant pressure on the West Bergholt defence and by then the game was beyond their reach.
The Shrimpers must now regain their form starting with Saturdays visit to third placed Lawford Lads, the first hurdle in this exciting championship race which looks like going right down to the wire.
