Harwich were well below their best and were held to a draw by a busy Holland team who were up for the challenge and determined to upset the league leaders. The Shrimpers took the lead through Michael Palmer but then never pressed home their advantage and Holland deservedly equalised and could have snatched victory in the closing stages.
However the point gained by the Shrimpers could yet prove to be important. Harwich’s lead at the top of the table has now been cut to four points with their nearest rivals Newbury Forest having a game in hand.
Harwich Reserves fared better and reached the Semi Final of the Tommy Thompson Cup with a 3-1 victory over Hatfield Peverel Reserves. The Reserves scorers were Leroy Eade, Craig Martin and Chris Stratton and their Man of the Match was Lee Chilver.
