HARWICH HIT FOR SIX AS THEY EXIT FA VASE

SHRIMPERS' CHANCES EVAPORATED AFTER THEY WERE REDUCED TO 10 MEN IN THE FIRST HALF AND THEY COULD NOT AVOID A 6-0 REVERSE TO IMPRESSIVE HARLOW

With Harwich goalkeeper Sam Felgate still not sufficiently recovered from a pre-season injury, late emergency signing Will Healey stepped into the breach.
Healey was soon in action, making a good diving save from Rueben Santos, who was returning from injury and had received an enthusiastic reception from the Harlow crowd.
Harwich's first attack was well worked by Louie Bloom but Tom Watkins cross-cum-shot was too long.
When Harlow came back, debutant Lewis Wood did well to clear with a diving header.
Harlow took the lead in the 25th minute when Leo Carty conceded a penalty kick and Nicholas Sanchez netted comfortably from the spot.
Ten minutes later, with Harwich under pressure, Harlow were awarded another penalty and worse was to follow, when after consulting his assistant, the referee sent off Liam White (pictured). When Sanchez again made no mistake, 10-man Harwich faced a mountain to climb to stay in the match.
Harlow's passing on their artificial pitch was first class and in the final minute of the first half the unmarked Santos calmly stroked home their 3rd goal.
Harwich had a chance to reduce the arrears early in the second half when a clever pass from Bloom put Joe Wood through but from 20 yards he could not keep the ball down and his lob went over the crossbar.
Harlow were manoeuvring the ball around sweetly, making life so difficult for the depleted Shrimpers and midway through the half a cross saw Santos tap in their 4th goal at the far post.
Against a talented team, had the score remained at 4-0, Harwich would have done well in the second half.
However, with 5 minutes remaining, the effort had taken its toll on the Shrimpers and Reece Simpson scored two more goals for Harlow.
Harlow had given a masterclass display on the field and, off it, we thank them for their warm welcome and excellent hospitality. We also extend our best wishes for their success in the competition.
Harwich team: Will Healey, Jack Cosby, Charlie Canham (captain), Lewis Wood, Charlie Carr, Tyler Sullivan, Tom Watkins, Jenson Goode, Louie Bloom, Leo Carty and Joe Wood. Substitutes: Liam White, Tobi Dehinsilu, Oakley McNair and Jeremiah Ajisafe (all used).
