Harwich's starting line-up for the upcoming campaign is beginning to take shape and they took an early lead in this friendly with a very clever flicked shot from one of their trialists.
The same player, who has an eye for goal, increased their lead when he spotted a gap and from distance shot low into the net.
Playing his third game for the club, the trialist went on to complete his hat-trick before half time.
It had been a convincing all-round performance from the Shrimpers in which they looked strong in defence, midfield and attack.
Managers Matt Carmichael and Sean Tynan were keen to explore all options so, after the break, sweeping changes were made, using all the available players in an enlarged squad.
Although there were no further goals scored, Harwich still looked compact and came close to increasing their lead, notably when Alfie Eldridge made a darting run down the flank before crossing the ball to Louie Bloom, whose shot was only inches off target.
