REPORT BY TERRY FRANCIS AND COLIN ROGERS
Harwich made a good start and were on top for the opening 20 minutes of this FA Cup extra-preliminary round tie - the Shrimpers' first game in the competition in six years.
The hosts' first scoring chance came in the 10th minute when Luke Mayhew made a break, beating his marker and laying the ball across the six-yard box for Louie Bloom to get a delicate touch which goalkeeper Matthew Bonsu did well to smother.
Two minutes later, Mayhew sent over an in-swinging corner kick from which Bloom found space, but this time the Shrimpers striker shot wide of the post.
Dunstable grew into the game and created a good chance but the header was off target.
Mayhew was prominent for Harwich and, two minutes into added time, he played a short corner kick to Alfie Canning who crossed to the far post where Teddy Johnson was perfectly positioned to head the Shrimpers into the lead.
In the excitement of the moment, Harwich switched off in defence and Dunstable immediately took advantage for George Joyce to level the scores with a finish from inside the six-yard box. Half time, all square.
The score remained at 1-1 until the 60th minute when again it was Joyce who did the trick for Dunstable with a cracking 25-yard shot, rifled into the net, that left Shrimpers goalkeeper Brad Cook stranded.

Harwich tried hard to fight back but the visitors' defence was now very difficult to pierce, whilst the Dunstable attackers were cleverly finding space in the Shrimpers rear-guard. So it was that midway through the half Cook dived but was unable to hold a fierce shot, and in a split second before he could recover, Thomas Blennerhasset pounced to hammer home Dunstable's 3rd goal.
Mayhew had a half chance for the Shrimpers but the angle proved too much and his shot went over the crossbar.
Dunstable were on top and with 15 minutes remaining increased their lead to 4-1 when Duadi rose high to guide his header into the far corner of the net.
To their credit, Harwich then mounted a spirited comeback, inspired by substitute Greg Rodger, who beat two defenders before cutting in from the left flank and cleverly firing his shot across goalkeeper Bonsu, into the far corner of the net.
The Shrimpers' tails were up and from a Rodger pass, Mayhew had a one-on-one opportunity from which goalkeeper Bonsu made an excellent save at the expense of a corner kick.
Deep into added time, Harwich were still trying and a Rodger thunderbolt rattled the post and the crossbar, with Bonsu getting a touch on the ball.
It was a very sporting but competitive cup-tie and our best wishes go to the excellent, young AFC Dunstable squad in the next round. Also, our thanks to the 390 supporters who turned up to create a memorable atmosphere.
