Harwich & Parkeston have zoomed up the League table in the last couple of months and knowing how high the 3 points from this match would take them, they proved too strong for the young Needham Market team.
The Shrimpers pressed in the early stages with Shaun Kiouusis providing dangerous crosses and twice Luke Mayhew went close. Joe Knight also had a good headed attempt but with goalkeeper Finlay Shorten in fine form the Marketmen defended well. The Harwich breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Luke Mayhew ran onto a ball over the top of the visitors defence and despite a desparing tackle by Shorten, netted. The Shrimpers scored a well worked second goal before half-time when Brandon Rusby's cross was rocketed into the net in spectacular fashion by Joe Knight.
Shorten continued to impress making an acrobatic dive to tip Shaun Kioussis shot over the crossbar. However in the 55th minute Harwich won a penalty and despite Shorten getting a hand to the ball, Jamie Eades spot kick was too powerful. thus increasing Harwich lead to 3-0.. Harwich keeper Brad Cook pulled off a good diving save but James Letts was alert and followed up to reduce the arrears. With 10 minutes remaining Harwich pressed again for Brandon Rusby to force home their fourth goal.
