Coggeshall were on top during the first half and the Shrimpers were grateful to their defence, in which stalwart Michael Murray had come in to plug a gap. When United got past the back four, they found goalkeeper Brad Cook in top form and Harwich managed to go in at half time with the scoresheet goal less.
Harwich made changes at half time and played much better football in the second half. However they did not possess a cutting edge to their attacks and it seemed that the game was heading for a draw. Then in the final minutes United took advantage of uncertain play in the home defence to snatch victory.
It was a good pre-season work out for both teams with United showing skill in their ranks and Harwich able to test the depth of their squad.
Our thanks to Coggeshall United and best wish to them for the coming season.
