Stanton were up for the challenge and opened the scoring with a well taken goal. New signing Luke Mayhew made an impressive debut for Harwich and hammered home the Shrimpers equaliser. Harwich took the lead with a well placed penalty kick by Shaun Kioussis. Harwich have retained all of their players from last season and they now proved the value a settled unit. Joe Knight and the creative Mayhew formed an exciting attacking partnership with Knight scoring twice with a shot into the corner of the net and then a lob over the keeper to increase Harwich lead to 4-1 at half time.
Harwich scored three more goals in the second half through another new face Harvey Evans, Mayhew and a second Shaun Kiousis spot kick.
Despite the scoreline, Stanton acquitted themselves well to provide good opposition and we wish them success in the coming season.
