REARRANGED SHRIMPERS TEAM UNABLE TO MATCH AFC SUDBURY

This was a much stronger AFC Sudbury Reserve team than Harwich had earlier defeated 3-0 at the Royal Oak whereas injuries and unavailability meant that the Shrimpers has to patch up their line up for this match.
In the 8th minute Sudbury won a free kick on the edge off the Harwich penalty area and although the defensive wall managed to block the kick the rebound was hammered into the corner of the net to give the home side the lead. Shrimpers goalkeeper Brad Cook made a good diving save to prevent his team going further behind but Harwich had chances to equalise with Findley Caro's angled shot going inches wide and Jamie Eades shot being headed off the goal line when the keeper was stranded way out of his goal. Sudbury were out smarting Harwich finding acres of space for their attacking right back and he used the ball well to constantly have the Shrimpers defence in trouble. In the 40th minute Sudbury increased their lead from a free header in the penalty box. Earlier Harwich had a dangerous free kick which Sudbury had managed to clear and they had another on the edge of the penalty area before the break from which Sean Kioussis effort skimmed the post.
Had they managed to score from their chances Harwich could have been level at half time but Sudbury had been much the better team and their 2-0 interval lead was well deserved.
Early in the second half another headed goal put Sudbury 3-0 in the lead and any chance of a Harwich comeback had gone. A fourth Sudbury goal emphasised the difference between the teams on the night. Keeper Brad Cook was Harwich best player and he made an excellent diving save from a penalty kick to save the Shrimpers again.
A very difficult evening for Harwich but on their wide artificial G4 pitch this AFC Sudbury team played excellent football and would probably have been a match for most teams in the Division.
Harwich team: Brad Cook, Alfie Smith, Shaun Kioussis, Joe Knight, Jake Kioussis, Findley Caro, Steve Polley, Gareth Heath, Reece Harte, Rob Pratt and Jamie Eades; Substitutes: Brandon Rusby, Nathan Kioussis and Gary Stanford.
