Forest had the first chance following a defensive slip up but Shrimpers goalkeeper Brad Cook made a good block. Harwich came back strongly with first time shots from Nathan Kioussis and Mark Palmer going off target. Harwich took the lead in the 20th minute when striker Joe Knight netted with a 20 yard well placed low shot. The Shrimpers went close when Knight appeared to be fouled as he put the ball across the face of the goal but his colleagues were unable to apply the finishing touch. Harwich were well on top now and increased their lead when Gareth Heath took advantage of a misplaced clearance and staying calm dummied defenders and goalkeeper before stroking the ball into the empty net. Three minutes later Knight was fouled and this time the Referee awarded a penalty kick which Shaun Kioussis hammered into the corner of the net to give Harwich a commanding 3-0 half time lead.
After the break Harwich continued to look sharp and decisive with their pressure resulting in a handball which again saw Shaun Kioussis strike a penalty kick hard and low into the corner of the net to make it 4-0. It was an excellent performance throughout the Harwich team and they went on to complete an impressive, well deserved victory;
