With Brad Cook unfit to start, 16 year old Jack Lines came into the Harwich line up in horrendous weather conditions for the young goalkeeper to make his debut.
Coggeshall's attack was dangerous in the early stages and they took the lead with a shot from Hayes Thomas into the corner of the net. Harwich best effort of the first half saw United's keeper made a stunning flying save to turn the ball over the crossbar. The Shrimpers defence afforded excellent protection to their young keeper Lines and having overcome a difficult start, he made an great block save with half time approaching.
United deserved their interval lead but the Shrimpers are a very spirited outfit nowadays and came out after the break determined to turn the tables and put pressure on their opponents. Alfie Smith forced United's keeper to advance and make a good save. Harwich were rewarded for their efforts when from Shaun Kioussis corner kick Ben Hammond equalised with a well placed header. Rob Pratt came on to cause United's defence problems down the right flank and Matt Geen was having a good game, forcing United's keeper to make another important save. Harwich were pressing hard for a winner and Jamie Eades header bounced on the crossbar. United were also going for three points and in the final minutes had a goal ruled out for offside but it would have been an injustice if Harwich had been beaten.
