AFTER THEIR FIRST LEAGUE VICTORY ON STATURDAY, THE SHRIMPERS GROW IN CONFIDENCE WITH ANOTHER EXCELLENT TEAM PERFORMANCE

REPORT BY DANIEL ROGERS

For this match Harwich deployed an attacking 4-3-3 line up.
The Shrimpers made a great start with an early goal when, following good build up play by Ben Hammond and Rob Good, Matt Geen sent over a lovely ball across the box for Findley Caro to tap home. Caro was causing problems for the Coggeshall full back. With 20 minutes gone Harwich were comfortably in control of the game with shots on goal which United dealt with. Caro was continuing to cause the United defence problems, winning free kicks in dangerous positions. In the 39th minute Good's clever back heel shot was cleared off the United goal line. As half time approached Nicky Palmer's cross was headed just over by Reece Harte. Harwich had dominated the first half with lots of the ball whereas the Shrimpers defence had been hardly troubled.
Soon after the break Shrimpers keeper Brad Cook made an excellent save to stop the oncoming United striker. Harwich won a free kick in a dangerous position which hit the defensive wall but Harte followed up to hit a 25 yard shot which went into the net off the top corner of the post - another contender for goal of the goal of the season award !. On the hour Cook made another fine save from a few yards out. Harwich lost possession deep in their own half and Coggeshall's striker capitalised from close range to reduce the arrears. Disappointing for Harwich as this was against the run of play. Coggeshall's hopes were raised and they had a shot hit the crossbar as they had a spell of domination. It was end to end now with Alfie Smith's shot deflected wide when the Shrimpers attacked. In the last minute Cook made a match winning save to guarantee Harwich the win.
It was another outstanding team display with every Shrimper playing their part as Harwich grow in confidence with each game.
Harwich reward is a home tie to White Ensign, who currently occupy 6th position in the Essex Senior League.
