Harwich welcomed fellow step 6 opponents Needham Market Reserves from the Thurlow Nunn League North to the Gwinnell & Sons Royal Oak for this friendly match in front of a good following of supporters. In a goaless first half the young Needham Market outfit looked the best team. Just before half time Harwich suffered a major blow to their pre-season preparations when striker Jordan Heath suffered what seemed to be a serious leg injury. Jordan was stretchered off and later left the Ground on crutches. He is a key player in the Shrimpers plans and supporters will wish him the speediest possible recovery.
After the break Clarence Emeh gave Harwich the lead and there were delighted celebrations when debutant local boy Charlie Smith increased the Shrimpers lead with a well taken second goal. Needham Market were still dangerous and young goalkeeper Brad Cook had a good game making some fine saves to keep a clean sheet. Emeh scored his second goal to clinch victory for Harwich.
Our thanks and best wishes to Needham Market for the coming season.
