Harwich good form in friendlies continues in draw with strong Basildon United

Like Harwich, Basildon have enjoyed some encouraging results in their friendlies and with supporters now able to attend there was a good atmosphere at the Gwinnells Royal Oak.
The match was evenly contested from the start with Basildon demonstrating their status with pacey moves and Harwich raising their game to compete. In the 25th minute Shrimpers keeper Sam Felgate pulled off a great diving point blank save to prevent United taking the lead. Rory Harman went close with a snap shot after good Harwich build up. Live wire Charlie Lindoe's low free kick was gathered at the second attempt
by the Basildon keeper whilst at the other end the Harwich defence had to be at their best to keep the first half goaless against United's sharp attackers.
The second half continued to be entertaining with Harwich having two good goalscoring chances firstly when from a super cross Matt Geen miscued and later there was another dangerous cross to the far post and Ollie Laws put the ball just wide. Basidlon were also looking for a winner and although the match ended goaless it proved to be an excellent work out for both sides and a good watch for spectators.
