Harwich started in style with a smart goal within the open ng 15 minutes when Jordan Heath crossed for Ross Purll to head neatly into the net. Jordan Heath threaded he way through from 20 yards before calmly shooting the Shrimpers second goal. At the close of the first 45 minutes Harwich had been on top and deserved their lead. Harwich were not to maintain their ascendency when play resumed and Dan Boxell, who had been the Regent player to take the eye, reduced the arrears in the 65th minute when he latched onto a ball in no mans land and beat goalkeeper Sam Felgate. This was repeated soon after with Boxcell hammering in the equaliser. There were still 20 minutes to go and the Harwich Managers boosted their attack in an effort to regain the lead. Sean Barltlett forced a good stop from Regent keeper George Ponto but Brightlingsea were dangerous in attack and looked likely to snatch all three points. Harwich defender Dan Clarke made an important last ditch tackle and at the close perhaps a point apiece was a fair result with each team on top for a half the game.
