Harwich started well with a goal in the first few minutes, Joe Knight netting with a downward header. Sean Bartlett increased their lead with an excellent 20 yards shot and then Knight scored again with another even better header which sailed into the far corner of the net. Shrimpers young striker Ross Purll was fouled and got up to take the penalty kick but the visiting keeper dived to save. However Purll soon made amends with a well taken goal to put Harwich 4-0 in front at the interval. The Harwich Managers rung the changes after the break with two more young Shrimpers combining, Miles Wallace crossing for Elliot Fay to score with a first time shot from a difficult angle. Purll also netted his second goal. Leiston Reserves were a young team and played some nice football to score two goals in the last 20 minutes.
