Harwich had lost a closely contested opening friendly game against Witham on Saturday in a match that proved a good workout. On Tuesday evening they entertained a Stanway Rovers team who started the match well and tested the Harwich defence. The Shrimpers came back strongly to move the ball around nicely which at this early stage of their preparations boded well. Harwich had local boys Michael Murray and Mark Palmer were back in the Shrimpers colours and both did well. New signing Ade Cant was impressive and he laid on the perfect cross for Jordan Heath to show his finishing prowess by sweeping the ball into the net to give Harwich a first half lead. It continued to be a very enteraining game after the break and Jordan Heath increased the Shrimpers lead from the penalty spot. Stanway had played their part and scored a deserved goal before the finish.
As with the Witham game, there was a good attendance of around the 100 mark, another encouraging factor for the Club.
