Disapointment for Harwich as Little Oakley win local derby 2-1

Little Oakley made a great start by scoring in the first few minutes when the alert Gregg Rodger pounced on a back pass that caught keeper Sam Felgate in two minds. The Acorns were buoyed up by this early success and Harwich had to fight hard to get back. The Shrimpers passed the ball well and equalised when Jordan Heath was fouled an converted the penalty kick himself. Harwich made strong appeals for another spot kick when Jamie Beecham was brought down but the Referee waived play on. Little Oakley were proving tough opponents and the teams went in level at the break. Harwich again showed some hesitancy in defence and when the ball struck the post Rodger was again the first to react and put his team back into the lead. In the closing stages Harwich displayed some good build up with Jordan Heath their hope of rescuing a point. He twice had shots only inches off target and then had another effort bounce on top of the crossbar. Little Oakley had played well and saw out time to the jubiliation of their supporters.
