HARWICH BOUNCE BACK TO WIN LOCAL DERBY AT HOLLAND FC

The Harwich squad was depleted through unavailabilty for various reasons and Kevin Coyle returned to help out. He created the first Harwich chance after 5 minutes but goalkeeper Mitchell Potter covered his shot. Harwich won a free kick but Shaun Kioussis effort was blocked by the defensive wall whilst at the other end another free kick taken by Jimmy Webb landed on the roof of the Shrimpers net. Harwich were looking short of confidence after the weekends experience and in the 30th minute Steve Eaton missed a golden chance to put Holland ahead when with the goal gaping and the advancing goalkeeper Sam Felgate to beat, he shot wide. Five minutes later Harwich took the lead when the Holland defence was in a tangle following a concerted attack and Callum Griffith scored from close range. With Coyle a colosuss at the heart of their defence, Harwich were buzzing now with Griffith and Coyle himself going close. Soon after the start of the second half Holland won a free kick in a dangerous position but Webb's free kick was easily saved by Felgate. This was to be Holland's last chance to get back in contention with Jordan Heath scoring a super second goal for Harwich when from 25 yards he placed his shot wide of Potter and into the net. Coyle skimmed the Holland crossbar with a rasping drive as Harwich were now in command of the game. Managers Kieron Shelley and Michael Wallace had also filled the gaps in the Harwich squad by drafting in 3 players from the Reserves to the substitutes bench and they blooded them on play with spirits high in the Shrimpers camp and amongst their strong travelling band of supporters.
