Harwich attacked first and in the 4th minute goalkeeper Aaron Ried punched out Shaun Kioussis dangerous free kick . The Shrimpers were on top and in the 18th minute won their 5th corner with Elliot Johnson shooting just over. As Harwich continued to attack, Jake Kioussis put Tyler Rose through but he was unable to get enough power on his shot. Jamie Beecham enjoyed a good game prompting the Shrimpers attacks and a tackle stopped Brad Westley despite strong appeals for a foul. Wivenhoe had managed to survive and came close to taking the lead when Aaron Donaldson broke through but the Shrimpers keeper Sam Felgate did well to block his shot at the expense of a corner.
The second half started with Rose running through the Wivehoe defence before shooting inches off target and Charlie Cook going close for the Dragons. Harwich were attacking the goal behind which the majority of their 100 supporters were now massed and they piled on the pressure with their Manager enjoying the chants of 'Kieron Shelley's black and white army'. Rose burst through the home defence again only to see his shot strike the upright and Reid made a good save from Shaun Kioussis free kick. Harwich were rewarded in the 75th minute when Jordan Heath shot them into the lead and then 5 minutes later substitute Callum Griffith put they result beyond doubt by netting the Shrimpers second goal.
