Harwich started well by taking the lead with a well worked goal and clever finish by Luke Barnard. Wormley had picked up points from draws but were still awaiting their first win but took this set back in their stride and half time came with the Shrimpers only having this single goal lead.
Harwich had lost their skipper and leading scorer Jordan Heath to an injury just before the break and they became disjointed. So it was that Wormley looked the more dangerous and equailised in the 65th minute through live wire striker Davey Edmee despite Harwich appeals for offside. In the closing stages Harwich at last started to breakdown the well organised Wormley reargaurd. Central defender Kevin Coyle joined the Harwich attack and his thunderous shot struck the crossbar and Sean Gunn missed a good opportunity. The Shrimpers luck was out and then another disputed decision saw the Referee award Wormley a penalty. Goalkeeper Sam Felgate dived push out captain Kyle Head's spot kick but the same player followed up to net Shrimpers Ryan Heath had been sent off a verbal offence and the 10 Harwich men made desparate efforts to salvage a point in added time but at the final whistle there were joyfull celebrations from Wormley.
