The Shrimpers trailed 1-4 at half time and looked certain to be defeated.

Harwich started poorly with Lopez Tavares exploiting the Shrimpers vunerability to a ball beyond their defenders. So it was that Harwich faced a mountain to climb at half time with the home side having scored four times and the Shrimpers only saving grace a goal scored by Shaun Mathurian. A crucial moment came 10 minutes into the second half when Lopez Tavares most influential player was dismissed for a head butt.
Harwich seized tha opportunity against 10 men to play much better and stage a thrilling comeback. Two goals from Joe Knight put them right back in contention and then a penalty converted by Shaun Gunn levelled the scores. The Shrimpers were on top now but in inury time time Lopez Tavares snatched the lead again. With a running track around the pitch, the Referee had noted the lenghty time that it took to retrieve the ball and consequently allowed extra time so it was in the 97th minute that Ryan Heath scored the Harwich equaliser. With key players missing, Harwich may well have settled for a point before the start and went home happy.
