Harwich made a great start with Luke Barnard ghosting through to give them the lead in only the second minutes and soon after taking another opportunity and making it 2-0 for the jubilant Shrimpers. Sean Mathurian reduced the arrears for Athletic but John Shuttleworth scored his first ever goal for Harwich to make it 3-1. Mathurian was in good form and he then netted twice to complete his hat trick and level the scores. The goal rush continued with Alex Akinola on target with a well taken shot to give Harwich a 4-3 half time advantage. With defences tightening up after the break there was a lull in the goalmouth incident. When Brantham's Jake Kioussis was sent off this seemed to be a catalyst for Althletic to
redouble their efforts and Dan Rowe scored for them to make it four all. Shrimpers young keeper Tom Wood had been hampered by an inury sustained in a match earlier in the day but he pulled off two great save in the closing stages which it seemed would earn Harwich a point. Then came the crushing blow for Harwich with George Sykes scoring and Brantham celebrating victory.
