Harwich defended well but in attack were unable to cause Hatfield Peverel enough problems

Harwich were again without their leading scorer, the injured Matt Geen and badly missed his cutting edge. Early on the Shrimpers almost conceeded but Matt McGowan did well to clear off the goal line. Lewis King broke through for Harwich but goalkkeper Keith Dawson blocked his effort. It was the Shrimpers keeper Tom Wood's turn to shine when he saved Laurance Hale's point blank shot. Half time arrived with a goaless scoreline.
Soon after the restart Harwich had their best chance of the match when Alex Akinola did well to work his way through the home defence but when faced with a gaping goal he shot past the post. Harwich endured a spell of sustained pressure with Curtis Edwards clearing of f the line and Wood tipping James Irvine's free kick onto the crossbar. Hatfield Peverel took the lead in the 64th minute from a header at the far post by Luke Turner. There followed a spell of pressure but the Shrimpers weathered this storm and Ollie Lamb made a suring run through the home defence evading tackles but on reaching the penalty area, the Referee booked him, apparently for simulation. With ten minutes remaining Edwards received a second yellow card for a last ditch tackle but from the resultant penalty kick Hale hit the post. Harwich's Lamb, Edwards and Wood had been outstanding in keeping their team in the game but unfortunaltey the Shrimpers attack was ineffective and they returned home pointless.
