As expected Coggeshall pressed forward from the start and Harwich had to be well organised to keep their goal in tact. There was a tremendous goal line clearance during this period with Shrimpers players Akinola and Eldridge somehow blocking cannon ball shots. During the first half Harwich seldom attacked but had given a solid performance to keep the scoresheet blank.
Ten minutes after the break substitute Lewis King made the the chance that Harwich had hoped for when he shrugged off a defender's challenge and evaded the advancing keeper. Unfortunately when it seemed that he would give the Shrimpers the lead he put his shot agonising the wrong side of the post. Harwich were not to have another such opportunity as they were fprced tp concentrate on keeping their shape to repel Coggeshall's attacks but they showed their battling qualities in forcing United to settle for a point.
