In a constant drizzle, Frentford soon proved the quicker side on and off the ball and Harwich were forced on the defensive. Shrimpers keeper Tom Wood was unfortunate with the first goal when Conway's shot came off the post and hit him before entering the net. Taylor-Forbes soon scored Frentford'second and before half time Driscoll made it 3-0.
Harwich improved in the second half and Hinton in the Frentford goal impressed with his confident handling of the greasy ball. However Frentford were not to be denied and Driscoll scored twice to complete his hat trick. The Shrimpers defence had been under great pressure but defended manfully. One or two heads in the Harwich ranks began to drop but young substitute Will Hughes came on and showed up well.
