Penalty and free kick ensure 3 points for Harwich

Hawich took the lead in the 7th minute when Matt Geen was fouled and then scored with a well taken penalty kick. The Shrimpers continued to look the better team and scored again in the 20th minute with a 20 yard free kick taken by Sam Thompson which beat the defensive wall and nestled sweetly in the corner of the net. Alex Akinola was lively in the Shrimpers attack and a defender did well to get back and clear his goal bound shot when the keeper was beaten.
Kelvedon defended well in the second half but even so Harwich should have built on their lead with their good approach work fizzling out in front of goal. Harwich were well marshalled by Ollie Lamb in defence and Kelvedon rarely looked likely to come back.
