The match was played in front of a bumper crowd of several hunderd. There was early excitement for them in the 8th minute when the Referee consulted his Assistant and awarded Little Oakley a debatable penalty. Jake Kioussis took the kick but Sam Felgate, who was adjuded to have committed the foul, dived to save. The strong gusting wind made things difficult but there was a local derby edge to keep the crowd buzzing. Clear cut chances were few with respective Captains Lewis Wood for Oakley and Michael Murray for Harwich commanding at the heart of their defences. It proved to be a very even contest with Harwich closest effort coming in the 75th minute when Luke Barnard's shot struck the crossbar whilst for Little Oakley Sam Eldridge had a couple of snap chances. The Referee gave notice of his added time but it still seemed that honours would remain even then came the last gasp goal which was well worked an clinically put away by Sam Eldridge.
Cruel on Harwich who had acquitted themselves well but joyous for Little Oakley who knew how important 3 points were in their quest for League glory and didn't settle for a draw.
