Harwich pressed in the early stages sending over a serries of dangerous crosses into the visitors goalmouth. White Notley came back to give notice that this was going to be an entertaining game. Brad Weltley provided the pass from which Matt Geen gave Harwich a 20th minute lead by powering the ball into the corner of the net from an angle. It was cut and thrust and White Notley came close when the ball wass cleared off the Harwich goal line.
A one goal half time lead was too slender for Harwich and in the 65th minute Wesltey scored the important second when he pounced on a half chance and squeezed the ball through the tightest of spaces. With eight minutes remaining Harwich iced the cake when skipper Michael Murray made a super run from defence before unselfishely passing to Geen to tap in the third goal.
This was Matt Geen's 50th appearance for Harwich and he has notched up 36 goals.
