A minutes silence was held before the kick off in memory of former Harwich player Roy Foley who played almost 100 games for the Shrimpers in the 1950's and Don McCleod, a staunch supporter, Referee and Assessor in Senior Football.
Harwich were on top in the first half but Hatfield Peverel defended resolutely to keep them at bay. However the Shrimpers had numerous shots on target but goalkeeper Jason Kew was always well positioned and handled confidently. Five minutes before the break Geen opened the scoring with an angled cracking shot into the corner of the net.
Brad Westley was prominent in the Shrimpers attacks and created a great opening which his team mates were not able to take. Harwich dropped off a bit and Hatfield Peverel became more of an attacking force. Then in the 70th minutes Sam Thompson sent over an inch perfect cross from which Luke Barnard tapped home Harwich second goal. The Shrimpers were back to their best now and Geen cleverly brought the ball down and with a shot on the turn netted their 3rd goal. In the last minute Geen completed his hat trick.
