Harwich took the lead in the 12th minute with a neat move finished by Andy Gibbons. Six minutes later the Shrimpers scored a second and again it was well worked with Brad Westley setting up Sam Thompson. Harwich were well on top and Luke Barnard almost added another goal when his shot from a difficult angle struck the post. It was an excellent first half display from Harwich and they were rewarded with a fourth goal when Michael Murray stole in on the blind side of the defence to net with a glancing header.
Harwich started the second half in the same vein and Matt Geen burst through to give them a seemingly unassailable 4 goal lead at the 65th minute mark. In the 75th minute the Harwich defence was caught napping and in desparation Ollie Lamb conceeded a penalty from wheich Brad Camm reduced the arrears. The Harwich defence were in difficulty from corner kicks and in the 81 minute Randy Adu-Poko headed the University back into contention. With only 5 minutes remaining a fine shot from Camm netted University third goal and with the Students now rampant, Harwich were clinging on to their lead, now a single goal. University had the ball in the net again but the Officials had spotted a handball. Harwich were relieved to hear the final whistle having dropped points in similar circumstances last week.
