Harwich made a good start with Luke Barnard shooting inches the wrong side of the post and Matt Geen hitting the crossbar with a pile driver. It was against the run of play that West Bergholt took the lead in the 15th minute but it was with an excellent 20 yard angled shot from Ryan Carvey which gave goalkeeper Sam Felgate no chance. West Bergholt then impressed but 5 minutes before half time Luke Barnard drilled in an equaliser for Harwich following a cross.
After the break Harwich got on top and Andy Gibbons had a shot deflected for a corner when he had a good chance to score. Harwich were rewarded in the 60th minute when they mounted an excellent attack with Ollie Lamb cross setting up Gibbons and this time his made not mistake to give the Shrimpers the lead. Harwich were buzzing now and 5 minutes later Geen crossed for Barnard to hammer the ball into the corner of the net for a third goal. Harwich remained the better team but with 12 minutes remaining Dan Price's goal gave West Bergholt a life line. A few minutes later Harwich failed to clear a corner kick and Darren Bethell equalised against his old club. Both teams looked for a winner in the closing minutes and for Harwich Geen set up Sam Thompson with a great chance but he was unable to find the net.
