It was an very good game from two teams who belied their lowly league position. It was a landmark game for Michel Murray who notched up his 200th appearance for Harwich. The Shrimpers took the lead in the 15th minute when fortune initially favoured them, the Referee deflecting the ball into the path of Luke Barnard who ran through to score, taking his tally to 6 goals in 3 games. University were in control of the midfiedl and adopted a shoot on sight policy. Harwich goalkeeper Giddings did well to tip a dipping 45 free kick over the crossbar. At the other end Matt Geen went close for Harwich. Play was even and mainly in midfield. Just before half time Harwich increased their lead when Ryan Munson created an opportunity from which the influential Michael Hammond scored with an overhead kick.
Universtiy were proving themselves to be the best opposition that Harwich had faced so far this season and penned the Shrimpers in their own half for most of the last half hour. They were rewarded with a goal in the 79th minute when Oluwatobi Oluborode netted with a header following a corner. In the closing minutes the visitors had a goal disallowed for an infrigement and Harwich celebrated 3 valuable points.
