Harwich gave what was possibly their worst showing of the season in the first half and Weeley took advantage. During this period the Shrimpers seemed intent on short passing and constantly lost the ball to a more powerful opponents. Lee Nash gave Weeley the lead in the 15th minute with a good finish that gave goalkeeper Jordan Giddings no chance. With Weeley winning the ball in midfield and Harwich inept in attack, the Shrimpers defence was often under pressure. Tom Heffer increased the lead on the half hour and Harwich were grateful to reach the interval only 2 goals behind.
After the break it was a different story with Harwich much more determined and lengthening their passes to good effect. Harwich thought that they had pulled a goal back when Jack Richardson and Sam Thompson comibined to force the ball over the line but the Referee ruled that there had been an infringement. Matt Geen's shot forced the Weeley keeper to produce a fine save to tip the ball over but in the end despite a good comeback, Harwich were unable to reduce the defecit.
